About our club

Discover traditional Shotokan karate in Uxbridge. Since 1980, we have been helping children, adults, and families build confidence, physical fitness, and disciplined traditional Shotokan karate  skills in an encouraging environment.

Our history and heritage

Uxbridge Karate was formed in 1980, initially training personnel and local residents at RAF Uxbridge. In 2010, we relocated to our current home at Bishopshalt School.   We remain dedicated to authentic traditional  Shotokan karate, maintaining high training standards while nurturing a close-knit community.

Affiliation with SEKU

We are proudly affiliated to the Shotokan England Karate Union (SEKU). This partnership guarantees  recognised gradings, high-calibre training courses, and competitive events. We place deep focus on solid fundamental techniques (kihon), ensuring students only progress when they are genuinely confident and prepared.

A welcoming club for everyone

Stepping into a dojo for the first time can feel daunting, whether you are six years old or trying traditional Shotokan karate as an adult. Uxbridge Karate is built on a friendly, supportive ethos where every student trains at their own pace. We warmly invite prospective members to contact us and join a free trial lesson.

"Training with Uxbridge Karate has given our whole family great fitness, practical self-defence skills, and real confidence. The instructors take the time to support every single beginner."
